Gemini: The Twins

Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac. They’re all about communication, intellect, and rationality. 

As the twins, the Gemini duality shows up on a few levels. Geminis always seem to do multiple things at the same time – having hundreds of irons in the fire brings them a feeling of security and purpose! The flip side is that all this can get little out of hand, and they’re most likely to leave things unfinished, forget their lists, or be inconsistent in what they produce.

They have a super-quick wit. In fact, they’re renowned for it. A Gemini’s need to communicate comes from the influence of Mercury, their ruling planet, Mercury (when Mercury is in retrograde, this impacts Geminis on a whole other level)! Geminis are also keen intellectual developers – they devour scientific journals, political analyses, psychology and anthropology essays, and they love to read and write their own material. Although it’s the first Air sign of the zodiac (with Libra and Aquarius to follow), Gemini is mutable and sits between the fixed earth sign of Taurus and the cardinal water sing, Cancer. Gemini reflects the mutable Air qualities – mental agility, a quick mind, and a push for freedom and new things. The shadows here are changeability and superficiality, though. These shadow traits can make Gemini seem skittish or distracted.

Geminis tend to show their feelings on their face. They’re very expressive and need to be mindful of eye rolls, or grimacing at the wrong moment! Mercury’s influence can stabilise this, and allow us to see the practical and intuitive vibe Gemini is known for. Once Mercury has countered any flightiness or shallow tendencies, the freedom and positive expression remains the name of the Gemini game.

One of the most endearing things about Gemini is their ease of conversation, and their fundamental need to communicate. They will comment on the forums! They will call up radio shows! They will enter competitions! They will be extras in a film! They will send multiple short text messages, instead of one big one! They will be all over Tik Tok! This isn’t because they want to be the centre of your attention – to a Gemini, this is just another way of generously communicating (while their throat chakra works overtime).

A Gemini will always know the deal. Their intellectual, witty nature is an eternal pleasure to be around!
