A Love Spell
This love spell will call in your match – someone who embodies qualities that’ll make your heart flutter.
Love magic goes as far back as ancient Sumer, and it’s evolved with us over time, blending ancient traditions with modern day magic. Love spells have been found on clay tablets, in grimoires, books such as Picatrix and The Spiral Dance, and inscribed in Books of Shadows all over the world. The idea that you could summon the person you love with magic has captivated us – and has us killed – for centuries. But things are a little different today.
One thing that most witches can agree on is that the highest law of the universe is free will. It’s unethical to make someone do or feel something they haven’t consented to. So this changes things a little in the love magic world. This spell isn’t to manipulate the free will of someone you know… it’s focus is on their qualities and how you want to feel in that relationship. You’re summoning a healthy love, and it may look different than you think!
The best times to perform this spell are on a Friday, the first of the month, or a new moon.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- A piece of paper and pencil
- A medium sized bowl
- Primrose (to dispel bad vibes and attract good ones)
- Rose or lavender (for love)
- Camellia (to open your heart – and theirs!)
- Viola (for faithfulness)
- Marigold seeds (for abundance)
- Dried ginger (to speed up the spell)
- A piece of rose quartz or citrine (the larger the better)
Casting the Spell
On the piece of paper, write down all the qualities and actions you want in your person. Be specific about how they make you feel and what you wish to give them in return, from acts of love to emotional fulfilment.
Fold the piece of paper towards you a couple of times, focusing on drawing those qualities into your life. Place it in the centre of the bowl, and put the crystal on top. (If you’re more advanced in your witchcraft journey, you can create sigil from all the qualities you’ve chosen, draw it on a bay leaf, and break it up into the bowl).
Now, for the flowers!
These flowers can be freshly picked from the wild or a garden. If you can’t find one, simply find another plant, flower, or herb that shares the magical property it’s being used for (for example, if you can’t find violas you can use forget-me-nots or gladiolas to represent faithfulness).
You can use as many or as little as you want. I like to use one full flower head of each, but you can use just the petals or include the leaves and stems – it’s totally up to you.
Take your time to place them in the bowl one by one. As you do, say out loud what each one is for.
Next, take a pinch of marigold seeds and sprinkle them into the bowl as you ask for abundant love, then a pinch of dried ginger as you thank the universe for delivering your match to you as fast as fate will allow.
Hold the bowl in your hands and focus on your breathing. In through the nose, breathing in all the positive love you’ve placed into the bowl, and out through the mouth, breathing out any self-limiting beliefs, blockages, or negative thoughts.
When you’re done, place the bowl on your altar or in a safe place for three days. Once three days have passed, take the bowl outside and remove the crystal. Bury the contents of the bowl in your garden, planting the seeds of your intention and giving back to the earth. You can also burn the contents of this spell to release it back to the universe, just go with what feels right for you.
The key to this spell is to trust the process. Trust that the universe has heard you and will give you what you need at the right time.
