Goddess Lilith
Lilith is no ordinary goddess – she has a rich history found in Mesopotamian, Babylonian, and Judaic mythologies. She’s particularly known as the first woman, the original wife of Adam. Unlike his second wife, Eve, Lilith wasn’t created from Adam’s rib – she was created from the earth, as he was.
Lilith fiercely believed in her innate equality and right to autonomy. Adam, on the other hand, believed in his patriarchal right to assert dominance over Lilith in every way. Lilith eventually rebelled, refusing to submit to Adam’s control. She committed blasphemy by speaking the name of God out loud, and then she fled the Garden of Eden to create her own life outside of Adam’s rule.
Adam couldn’t accept Lilith’s rebellion or her independence, and he asked God to send three angels after her. They found her living in a cave by the Red Sea, now a mother to hundreds of children. But Lilith stood her ground and refused to return if she was going to be treated as less than equal. She even dropped a bombshell, claiming that she had a fling with the angel Samael.
In retaliation, the angels decided to punish Lilith by threatening to kill 100 of her children every day. Lilith returned to the Garden, where she saw Adam now had a new wife (Eve). She took Adam’s seed, and gave birth to a new race of earth-bound demons, that supposedly tortured humans.
Throughout history, Lilith has been used as a warning against the evils of women and the dangers of female empowerment. But modern witches see her in a whole new light. She’s become a symbol of feminine sexuality, empowerment, and liberation. Talk about turning the tables on the patriarchy!
Lilith is the ultimate feminist icon – the original symbol of independence and sovereignty. She’s not here to play by anyone’s rules but her own. She’s a fierce protector of women and a patron to those in abusive relationships. She’s like the cosmic guardian, standing by her sisters and guiding them to reclaim their power.
You can work with Lilith any time you need a boost of feminine strength, independence, and empowerment. She’s there to remind you that you don’t have to fit into anyone’s mould or play by society’s rules. You are the master of your own destiny, just like Lilith herself.
She’s the ultimate symbol of female strength and liberation, inspiring modern witches to stand tall, unapologetically confident, and reclaim their divine sovereignty.
