Full Moon Balance Ritual
This ritual harnesses the power of the elements to cultivate harmony in your life. Timed with the Libra Full Moon, it’s an ideal moment to tap into balance and the interconnected energies of earth, air, fire, and water. By using elemental counterparts, this ritual not only harmonises but also offers a fresh perspective, showcasing how each element complements and influences the others in a beautifully balanced dance of energies.
What you’ll need:
- A pencil and four small pieces of paper
- A small bowl of dirt
- A small bowl of water
- A candle of your choice
What to do:
Find a quiet and comfortable place under the light of the moon where you won’t be disturbed and lay out your items in front of you. As you settle in, take a series of deep breaths, letting the moon’s glow envelop you and ground your energy.
When you feel ready, grab the pencil and paper. On each piece, draw the symbols for the elements: earth, air, fire, and water (pictured below). As you do this, spend some time reflecting on each element’s essence: earth represents stability and material aspects like finances, water embodies emotions and intuition, fire symbolises passion and transformation, while air signifies communication and clarity.
Contemplate how these elements manifest in your life – are you grounded like earth or flowing like water? Do you burn with passion like fire, or do your thoughts drift like air? Take note of any imbalances or excesses in these areas.
Now, let’s bring some equilibrium. In each elemental area of your life, write down on the corresponding piece of paper what is imbalanced. For example, here are some ways imbalances present themselves:
Earth
- Too cautious with money or problems with spending
- Feeling sluggish and lazy or not taking enough down time
- Issues with maintaining boundaries and a lack of stability or being too stubborn, rigid, and resistant to change
- An obsession with or extreme dislike of material things and wealth
- Issues with social withdrawal and isolation or restlessness and constant seeking of social stimulation
Air
- Trouble with communication and expressing thoughts or being too blunt in communication
- Overthinking and mental overwhelm or not thinking things through at all
- Issues with learning such as close mindedness or excessive curiosity
- Scattered thoughts and need for constant stimulation or mental fatigue
- Passive aggressiveness and conflict avoidance or anger and confrontational issues
Fire
- Anger issues, impulsiveness, and a quick temper or holding in feelings of anger
- Issues with burnout and overworking or having a lack of passion, motivation and drive
- Constant need for attention and validation (ego) or lack of self-confidence and self-expression
- Making hasty decisions and impulsiveness or fear of decision making and risk taking
- Mood swings and being overly dramatic or emotional numbness and apathy
Water
- Codependency and fear of being alone or voluntary isolation and emotional detachment
- Escapism through addictive behaviours or problems with connecting to inner self
- Hypersensitivity and emotional overwhelm or difficulty in expressing emotions
- Lack of empathy or being overly empathetic
- Issues with depression and mood disorders, struggling with self-care and nurturing your relationships
To harmonise these areas of imbalance, we’re going to use the elemental counterparts. This works for both too much and too little of something. For instance, if you lack passion in life, it doesn’t always mean you need to fuel the fires more. Addressing it from an emotional perspective (water) can be key to finding your inner fire again.
When you have your pieces of paper ready, here are the next steps:
With the air piece of paper, bury it in the dirt and say:
I call on the powers of earth to harmonise my relationship with air.
With the earth piece of paper, blow on it with your breath and say:
I call on the powers of air to harmonise my relationship with earth.
With the water piece of paper, pass it over the heat of the candle and say:
I call on the powers of fire to harmonise my relationship with water.
With the fire piece of paper, submerge it in the water and say:
I call on the powers of water to harmonise my relationship with fire.
Finally, say:
By the powers of the moon, by elemental might,
I call upon the forces bringing balance to my life.
As the light shines bright in the sky above,
Let the elements unite in perfect harmony and love.
Leave the components of this ritual on your altar or in a safe space for three days. During this time, pay extra attention to remaining open and allowing the universe to balance and harmonise the areas that you chose to work on. Let yourself be guided towards a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you. Embrace this newfound balance with open arms and know that the universe is conspiring in your favour.
