Crafting Your Witch’s Ladder
A witch’s ladder is a cord woven with knots and intention, each one a spell in miniature, sending your will spiralling out into the universe. It’s an old form of magic, simple yet potent, and endlessly adaptable to your needs.
You will need:
Any cord, string, or ribbon will do, though natural fibres hold an earthy charm. Your colour can match your purpose, red for passion, green for growth, black for protection, white for clarity.
(Optional) Small charms to use. Feathers for freedom, beads for beauty, shells for emotional healing, or any token that holds meaning for you.
The steps:
- Decide on the amound of knots you want. Traditional numbers are three, seven, nine, or thirteen. Each knot is a heartbeat of your spell.
- Set your intention: Be clear in your heart and mind.
- As you start to tie each knot, speak your wish aloud or whisper a chant. Feel the energy flowing into the cord, knot by knot. If you’ve chosen charms, weave them in as you go.
- Hold the finished ladder in your hands, breathe your intent into it, and visualise your desire already complete. This will seal the spell.
- Hang it at your front door, in a hidden place, keep it wrapped in cloth, or carry it with you. Some witches leave it until the spell has worked its magic, then bury it, burn it, or cast it into running water to release the energy.
A witch’s ladder can be for protection, good fortune, love, release, or any purpose you choose. The magic is in the making, and the knots remember every word you whispered.
