Spell Bar and Brigid’s Blessings
Over the Witch School weekend, one goddess seemed to weave herself through the magic again and again. At Spell Bar, amidst flickering (battery-operated because it was hosted at a heritage building) candlelight, whispered intentions, and the hum of spellcraft in the air, the presence of Brigid was impossible to ignore.
Known by many names, including Brighid, Brigit, and Bride, Brigid is one of the most beloved goddesses of the Celtic world. She is a goddess of fire and water, poetry and healing, creativity and protection. Yet perhaps one of her most powerful gifts is abundance.
Not abundance in the narrow sense of wealth alone, but abundance in its fullest expression. Brigid reminds us that true prosperity is found in thriving health, meaningful work, creative inspiration, loving relationships, and a home filled with warmth and security. She is the spark that brings an idea to life, the healing that restores strength, and the fertile energy that allows dreams to take root and flourish.
As many witches gathered at Spell Bar throughout the weekend, Brigid’s energy appeared repeatedly in readings, rituals, conversations, and spellwork. This was hardly surprising. Witch School is, after all, a celebration of growth, learning, transformation, and community, all qualities deeply aligned with Brigid’s sacred flame.
Traditionally associated with Imbolc and the first stirrings of spring, Brigid carries the energy of renewal. She arrives when the days begin to lengthen, when the earth prepares to bloom, and when we are ready to step into a new chapter of our lives. Her message is one of possibility. No matter where you have been, growth is available to you.
Symbols of Brigid include sacred wells, candles, cows, healing herbs, and the eternal flame. Working with her can be as simple as lighting a candle, offering a bowl of fresh water, writing poetry, or dedicating yourself to a creative project that has been calling your name.
For those who felt her presence over the Witch School weekend, perhaps Brigid’s appearance was a reminder. The seeds you are planting matter. The dreams you are nurturing deserve your attention. The path you are walking is unfolding exactly as it should.
Like the first green shoots emerging after winter, Brigid invites us to trust in our own capacity to grow, create, heal, and thrive.
